Valentine's Day Products // Purple

It's time to talk about purple! It might not be the first color on your mind when you think of Valentine's Day but I still think it fits the occasion - putting a little twist on wearing pink. I once heard somebody say 'purple is the grown-up version of pink' and whether you are a grown-up or not I still think purple is is a great alternative to the more obvious choice of pink for this time of the year.

Balea Shaving Gel Blueberry Love: I am pretty sure this is up there with my top 5 most repurchased products of all time. I always use shaving creme and this is by far my favorite one! The scent and the packaging are amazing and it works really well. Are there limited edition Valentine's Day shaving cremes out there?

Manhattan Nail Polish 96E: Taupe with purple undertones - that is my favorite shade of taupe. The purple undertones keep the color from looking dirty or muddy (in my eyes). Nail polishes like this are a great subtle way to do Valentine's Day colors in a more neutral way.

essence Bloom Me Up! Eyelash Curler 01 Lovely Lavender: Using an eyelash curler makes a bigger difference in your lashes than you'd think. This specific one is really pretty and works really well with my lashes. I had another one by ebelin before but that one did not work for me. I got this eyelash curler from a limited edtion but essence has included this product in their regular range of tools.

Sleek i Divine Eye Shadow Palette Au Naturel 601: Of course you can also do purple on your eyes. I am a friend of more neutral shades when it comes to eye shadow. When I do color I do a dark crease shade most of the time. That is what I like these dark, mat purple shadows for.

essie Nail Polish 38 Nice is Nice: If you are looking for a light lavender polish I can recommend this one by essie. It is a perfect pastel color for the spring time that does not just make me think of Valentine's Day but Easter as well. The polish looks great on its own but you could also try glitter on top. I did that last year, you can check it out here: click!

essence Nail Polish The Darks 16 Well Plum!: If you are not in the mood t go for pastel lavender - why not go for deep dark purple? I do have to admit this is not a perfect nail polish but if you know of a long-lasting, almost black dark purple nail polish alternative - please tell me! Maybe you already have one in your collection?

Urban Decay Primer Potion: This is an all time favorite of mine. It is another one of those products that is generally good for every season but that does not mean I enjoy the packaging even more this time of the year.

Garnier Eye-Make-Up Remover 2-in-1: This is a new discovery from 2015. Obviously this is not just a great product for February but all year around. I can generally recommend this eye-make-up remover for waterproof eye-make-up, so if you are looking forward to adding a little purple to your everyday routine without adding unnecessary products to your collection this seems to me like a good alternative.

Catrice Absolute Eye Shadow 260 I Am A Coal-Girl: This is another example of a dark purple shade I would wear in my crease. This eye shadow by Catrice is no longer available but there are a lot of other shades like this you ca get in the drugstore.

Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 55 Get The Blues: This is a wonderful blue and purple duochrome nail polish. It is not your typical Valentine's Day color and definitely a little darker than you would expect - but maybe that is the perfect balance for an otherwise very light and romantic look?

L'oréal Nude Magique Eau De Teint 120 Pure Ivory: I was debating about including this in here. I hardly ever wear foundation and there is one simply reason for it: I cannot get anything light enough for my skin tone. I have had this product in my collection for a long time now and I think I want to try it again. I did not really get a chance to test it because when I treid it out it was clear that it was way to dark for me. I will probably have to wait until summer to try it (maybe I will get a tan this year...?) but maybe there are foundations in your collection you should give a second chance as well?

Nail of the Day - Glitterazzi

I allplied two coats of the essie polish and one of the effect coat. I love how different Glitterazzi looks depending what kind of base color you use. The only thing I would change about it is the amount of glitter. There should be more. You have to apply a fairly thick coat of the glitter polish because otherwise the glitter will not stick and you would just brush it off again when you try to distribute the polish. It still dries quite quickly which is great.

Spring Nail Polish Favorites

I cannot wait for spring to finally start! I have already started to go through my closet and my make-up collection looking for what I want to wear when the season  is finally here. (I know that is stupid and you can wear whatever you want whenever you want - but I want to save it for when it really is spring so that I am not already tiered of it when it actually happens. I guess it's the same as not wanting to decorate for Christmas too early...)

Three out of these four nail polishes I have already worn one I have yet to try out.

essence color & go nail polish 146 that's what I mint!
I think I got this polish around this time of the year last year. I really like the color. The polish is said to be a dupe for essie's mint candy apple but owning this color and loving it so much I don't even want to try the original out anymore.

Catrice Eve in Bloom limited edition Ultimate Nail Lacquer C05 Blossom you, blosso me
This polish was limited edition and you cannot get it anymore (sorry :( ). I bought on sale when the time for bright colors like this was already over and waited quite some time to eventually put it on.

OPI nail lacquer Sweet Heart
This is an all time favorite of mine. I love the color, it is perfect for the season, it has amazing quality - what is there more to say?

essie nail lacquer 38 nice is nice
If you do not have this color and you want to get it but you are on a budget you do not have to get the original by essie. There is a far cheaper alternative by essence that I talked about in a previous blog post. I really like pale purple in general - especially paired with nudes.

What are your favorite nail polishes for the upcoming season? Do you even care about what season it is when it comes to nail polish?

January Beauty Favorites 2014

I spent this month mostly on at home on winter break and studying so I did not wear a lot of make up or tried a lot of new products. These four are products that I do not think I talked about on my blog yet and as I happen to love them all I thought I would share.

Balea Professional Oil Repair Hair Oil
I have never tried any other hair oils before so I cannot compare this to any others. I have no idea what it smells like but I love the scent! It is not a strong scent and it does not linger in your hair but every time I use this I am surprised how much I like the scent. It does not do wonders for my hair, but it is definitely making my hair look less frizzy. Not frizz-free but less frizzy.

Yves Rocher Collection Cacao Cocoa & Raspberry Hand Cream
I do not like chocolate scented products at all (even though I love chocolate!) but this one is different. It mainly smells like raspberries so maybe that's why the definite chocolate scent does not bother me? Besides that I really like how it mouisturizes my skin. I have really dry hands and this sinks into the skin very fast.

essie Nail polish 38 NICE IS NICE
I have talked about this earlier this week in my Nail of the day post, so I do not want to talk about for too long. I really like the color - even though where I live we are expecting snow this week this makes me feel like spring is not so far away anymore.

OPI Nail Polish What Wizardry is This?
This is a sand effect polish from the mini set of the OPI "Oz the Great and Powerful" collection. I loved the collection and was so happy when a friend of mine got me the set for Christmas! I had to wear the dark one for New Years Eve :) It looks simply amazing:
Depending on how the light hist it it looks completely different! I never had a sand effect polish before and I do not usually like the look of them but this one looked so amazing and interesting. I do not think I have seen a polish like this before - I am in love!

This month I tried out products I have never tried before and discovered some new loves where I never thought I would. Product wise I stepped out of my comfortzone and hope to do so a lot more in the upcoming year.

What products did you love this month?

Nail of the Day

essie 38 NICE IS NICE

This is my very first essie nail polish. It is a beautiful light pastel purple that totally feels like spring to me. I do own the drugstore dupe by essence that looks almost exactly the same. I bought this polish at TJ Maxx so I did only pay 3.99Euro for it which is still more than double the price of the essence polish. If I had had to pay full price for it I would not have bought it.
Overall I like the polish a lot, the color looks exactly the same on the nails as it does in the bottle and it does not chip for a long time :)

What have you been wearing on your nails this week?
