Nail of the Day - October 2014

Basecoat: p2, Intensive Nail! Hardener

I love a good french manicure - but it is so hard to do it yourself! So how do you do it? You use glitter for the tips of your nails! The great thing about doing this with a glitter nail polish is that there is no harsh line to it that you could mess up. Here I applied two coats of the base color and two coats of the glitter polish.  I really like the way it turned out and I will probably wear this on my nails again :P

What are you wearing on your nails this week?

Products I've used up - September 2014

September has passed and I feel like now fall is finally really here. This morning when I took the bus to the city I was surrounded by fog and colorful trees. I love this kind of weather.
Now I am happy to eventually use the products that I bought with the new season in mind  - because the ones I used before are used up!
Like pretty much every month I used up Balea Shaving Gel Blueberry Love and like every month I have already bought a new bottle. Some other things I used up that regularly show up in my 'Products I've used up' posts are the Catrice Glamour Doll volume mascara, Carmex Classic Moisturizing Lip Balm and the essence studio nails better than gel nails top sealer high gloss. I have repurchased all of these already (no surprise there :P ).
Something I did not enjoy quite as much as I thought I would was the Yves Rocher Collection Cacao Liquid Hand Soap Cocoa & Raspberry. At the end of the day it is a hand soap so I cannot say that I 'did not like it' since it did its job. Doing the job is simply not enough for me to want to buy it again. Another thing I did actually enjoy was the NIVEA cashmere moments creme oil shower! I love NIVEA shower gels, the only thing that keeps me from buying them more often is the lack of scent. They do offer different scents but the scent is not very strong. Sometimes I want stronger sometimes more gentle scents. Right now I am preferring the lovely scent of the treacle moon shower creme in warm cinnamon nights.
Last but not least I used up the DIADERMINE moisturizer which I am kind of torn about. I think this is the best day time moisturizer I have ever had yet - and that is exactly the point. I like that it has SPF and it does prevent my skin from getting worse but it does not really make it any better. If you have any tips on moisturizers for very dry skin please tell me!

I hope you enjoyed this post - please leave me a comment if you did!

Little Red Drugstore HAUL

I seem to be thinking in specific a colour spectrum when shopping lately. This time its yellow and red :P I am sorry for using the same background for my pictures a lot but finding new ones that actually have good lighting is really hard. Please be patient with me.

L'Oreal Paris Elvital hair mask
Since I bought the Elvital Shampoo I have been taking a closer look at their hair care products. I have heard good thinks about this hair masks and since it was on sale I decided to give it a try.

treaclemoon warm cinnamon nights shower creme
I you ever come across treaclemoon shower cremes you've got to smell them. I have had treaclemoon shower gel before and while I do not think there is anything special about the consistency the scent is most extraordinary! I love the scent!

Catrice Limited Edtion Check & Tweed Velvet Lip Colour C03 Brit Chick
My boyfriend thinks I look like a vilan when I wear this lip stick :D I have been staling this collection online for a while now and was so happy when I finally found it! I could have bought a lot more...

Nivea lip butter caramel cream
This was a gift from one of my best friends! Labello and Nivea lip butters are the same in Germany but you cannot get the caramel cream version everywhere. I have not tried it yet but I guess it is going to have the same effect as the blueberry blush one.

Nail of the day - After Eight

Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 600 After Eight
Top Coat: Kiko Fancy Top Coat nail laquer
Basecoat: p2, Intensive Nail! Hardener

I put on two coats of After Eight before putting on a single coat of the Fancy Top Coat by Kiko. The glitter top coat is overpowering the green base big time. I had not intended for it to be like that and now that I know how this polish applies I would prefer to pair it with other base colours. Nevertheless I like the effect it gives because you can still tell it is definitely silver glitter and it does not appear too be colourful.

What are you wearing on your nails right now?

Septmeber Drugstore HAUL - Swatches

Somehow this turned into a pretty pink haul ;)
I have been to the drugstore a few times this September and wanted to share some of things I got with you today. I love reading about or watching other people's hauls and I hope you will enjoy mine as well:

This is the third or fourth time I bought this top coat and I will do it again. It makes a significant difference in how long my nail polish lasts and I love the shine it brings to my nails. It truly gives a 'high gloss' finish.

labello Lip Butter Blueberry Blush

I have wanted to buy this for sooooo long! I own a lot of lip balms so I had resisted buying another one for a long time  - but ultimately I caved in. I love the texture, it is like nothing I have ever tried before. It does not help as much with chapped lips like Carmex does but it still does help and sometimes the consistency just feels lighter on the lips.

toothbrush travel case

I know this is not the most interesting purchase of the day but it is something I should have bought a long time ago. I simply never thought of buying it when I was at the store.

This is a repurchase. I really like the natural but still volumizng effect it gives to my lashes. In addition to that it is a rather cheap drugstore product!

Catrice Limited Edition Metallure lip colour C03 Alluring Red

I have been eyeing this collection for a while now - the packaging is simply amazing! I love red lip colours but I already own a lot of them. This colour in particular looks a lot lighter on the lips than I expected it to be but I still enjoy the colour.

L'oréal Paris Elivital Nutri-Gloss Crystal Shampoo

I have never tried a L'oréal hair product before and I have heard great their more professional lines. I am so very excited to try it since I do not think I have ever used a shampoo with glitter in it before! The packaging looks amazing, does it not?

I am sorry this has turned out to be such a long post but I hope you have enjoyed the many pictures I included.

Have you ever tried any of these products?

Thanky for reading!

Nail of the Day - September 2014

Manhattan Bonnie Strange 006

I have a general obsession with dark red nail polish but this week I am wearing one I have not talked about before! Actually it is more purple than red but because the color is so dark it is hard to tell. I put on three coats (as always) to help the color stay on better but two coats would have been perfectly opaque. I like how settle the shimmer is- when there is no direct light you can hardly tell. I hardly wear anything than red in the colder moths and this one will surly be on my nails more than once this year!

What are you wearing on your nails at the moment? Do you have an all time favorite red?

Thanks for reading :)

Products I've used up - August 2014

Pantene Pro-V Silky Smooth Conditioner
This was a humongous 400ml bottle and it took me forever to use it all up. I bought this in February 2013 and just used it up this August! And what did I do?  - I repurchased it! I love this stuff. I am a little scared that they might have reformulated it since they changed the packaging and I bought my former bottle over a year ago. I have naturally curly hair and this product actually makes my hair dry 'straighter' while still making it shiny and feeling very soft.

Weleda Skin Food
This is a must have in my skin care routine. I have very dry skin and no other moisturizer does such a good job taking care of that problem. I only apply this at night because it makes your face super shiny and sticky for quite some time since it takes so long to really sink into your skin and because has a strong herbal scent to it. I notice a significant difference in my skin when I skip a day of applying this product. I have repurchased this already but I am still looking for a good day time moisturizer - any suggestions?

Isana Nail Polish Remover & Rival de Loop Clean & Care Eye Make Up Remover
These are products I repurchase all the time and that talked about a lot already on the blog.

Theramed Interdental Toothpaste
Ok, toothpaste is a little boring ;) but I always think it is interesting to see what toothpaste other people are using so I thought I'd share mine as well. Theramed is my favorite brand of toothpaste. I am very particular about the 'taste' of toothpaste and I hardly like any. In addition to the taste of Theramed toothpaste I really like their packaging! I think it looks great and it is also a lot more practical than the usual tube.

This time around I repurchased every single product I used up in the last month - I don't think that ever happened before! Did that ever happen to you?

Thanks so much for reading,

August Favorites

August is over and it is time for monthly favorites!
I have tried a lot of new products over the last few months that I never told you about! So here they are:

Alverde Body Butter in Vanilla & Manderine
This is my all time favorite Body Butter! I had this last autumn and when I saw it back on the shelves of dm I had to get it! I do not usually like the smell of vanilla but I love this scent. It moisturizes my skin very well, sinks in quickly and the scent is simply heavnly...

The Body Shop Squeaky Clean Scrub
This is the most effective face scrub I have ever tried. I had a little tub of the The Body Shop Body Scrub in chocolate and liked it so much I wanted to try one of their face scrubs. I have dry, sensitive skin and this scrub is the perfect mixture of cleansing and effective but not too harsh. It just makes my skin feel 'squeaky clean' which is why I feel like the name is simply perfect.

Alverde Eye Creme for every Skin Type
I have been trying out a lot of eye cremes. I think I will do a comparison blog post soon - but just so you know: this is my winner!

CarmexClassic Moisturising Lip Balm
This is an evergreen all over amazing product. I could include this in every favorites post but this month it truly deserves a spot. I have been sick last month and when I am sick my lips are dry and cracked and hurt - and the only thing that helps is Carmex!

Catrice Ultimate Colour Lipgloss Limited Edition Carnival Of Colours C04 Feel the SpiRED
I do not know why the word 'red' is in the name because it is definitely a more pink color. I hardly ever wore lip gloss anymore until I bought this one (I think in July?). I love it! Wearing lipgloss feels so much lighter than wearing lipstick and the gloss just looks so shiny, fresh and effortless. I loved it for the summer time <3

The Body Shop Special Edition Blueberry Body Scrub-Gelee
I bought this in the sale for only 8Euro. I love the scent, the texture (it literally looks like blueberry jam) and the effect it has on my skin. You only need a very small amount of product for your entire body. It clears my skin out and makes it feel smooth and clean.

Now on to some favorites that I cannot really show you but I still wanted to tell you about:

Cheesecake Recipe
I am a little baking crazy :P
I love baking - especially in the middle of the night. Does anybody else do that? It is late at night and I just feel like baking. Due to that I try out a lot of recipes and my I wanted to share last months favorite with you: Cheesecake! I will like the recipe here. I am sorry for all my international readers but its in German. I you want to I can try my best at translating it.

Shake it off - Taylor Swift
OH. MY. GOD.
The new Taylor Swift album that will come out next October is making me jump up and down in excitement! Of course I love her new song Shake it off and have been listening to it on repeat!

Normally I do not talk about FLOPS in my Favorites Posts but this month I had to mention one. The movie Lucy was one of the worst movie I have seen this year. It just felt like it tried to sell basic physics knowledge from school as breakthrough new ideas of the main character. I am not saying that 'this is basic knowledge everyone should know and you should feel stupid if you don't' but I think it is idiotic to sell it as something it simply is not. I felt like they tried to make everything so 'epic' and be so unbelievably 'deep' and 'scientific' and they just failed at delivering that completely. Other than that I also did not enjoy the plot.
Another movie I saw last month that I really liked was Guardians of the Galaxy! I do not think it was as good as everyone says (I feel like it's everyone new favorite Marvel movie) but it was still good. I love Groot <3

This feels like the longest post I have ever done! Is it too long? Please leave me your opinion on that in the comments below.

Thanks for reading,

Jewelry HAUL

What was the number one thing on my 'not to buy' list? - Jewelry! Well.... uuups?
Let's just say that I could have bought a lot more than this! Why is there so much pretty jewelry out there right now?! It just makes it harder to resist....

In the beginning of July I went to my brother's prom and had - like always - nothing to wear. I borrowed a dress from a friend and all I needed was a necklace to match it! I found this one at Rossmann on sale for just 5Euro! I bought it a month ago but I have still seen it in stores last week since it is not on sale everywhere yet. - 5 Euro

I was  actually on the hunt for another necklace from H&M but I could not find it anywhere. I saw it once in store but since I had banned myself from buying anymore jewelry I did not get it. When I could not get this necklace out of my head I finally decided to buy it - it was nowhere to be found. Not even online! So when I went to H&M last week yet again (to check for the other necklace) and I saw this beautiful piece! I love the slight lavender undertone of the off white stones, it is not too big not too small - it is just perfect! - 9,99Euro

I love shopping the sales! The only reason for me to go to C&A is their jewelry sales - I always find something I like. This time it were these pretty light mint dangling earrings. I own a lot of earrings, but I hardly wear them anymore. Hopefully this pair will change that habit of mine. - 1 Euro

I don't think I have ever posted a jewelry haul, have I?
What style jewelry are you into right now? I am clearly favoring big chunky jewels in lighter colors.

Bye,

Products I've used up - June & July 2014

Why do these posts always make me feel so productive? ;) It feels like using up a product is a real achievement - which sometimes it is because you have to constantly remind yourself not to start using all those shiny new products before you use up the old ones.

NIVEA shampoo hydro care
I used to love this shampoo but now I am not so sure about it. Maybe I "over used" it - you know how shampoos lose their effect on your hair after some time but when you start using them again after you left it out for some time they work again? I hope that is the case...

Dove pampering Body Lotion Deep Care Complexes
I wish this product would smell nicer because the lack of scent is the only thing keeping me from buying it again. I love the effect it has on my skin and how fast it soaks up into my skin but I know products that do the same and smell better.

NIVEA water lily & oil Shower Gel
Again I would like this to smell nicer (and stronger) - other than that I loved it. It feels a lot thicker than other shower gels (maybe a little like the Yves Rocher shower cremeand I like the little pearls in the gel.

Balea Shaving Gel Summer Garden Mango
I am so excited that my favorite shaving gel has finally come out with new scents! I loved the Mango version but I think I like the blueberry one even more <3

Alverde Body Lotion City Whispers
Nope. Sorry, but I did not like that one. I love the alverde Body Butters and thought I might love their body lotions as well - which I sadly do not. It takes forever to sink into your skin and does not have that big of an effect on your skin. I have dry skin and this simply wasn't enough. I am happy I have finally used it up.

Rival de Loop Clean & Care Eye Make Up Remover Oil Free
This is an all time favorite of mine and I think it's been in every Products I've used up post I have ever done.

I love using stuff up. What I like even more is finally throwing it all into the trash after doing these posts! Let's make room for new products!

What have you used up this summer so far?

Bye,

Summer Beauty Haul

I went shopping way too much yet again! - But I did not actually buy a lot of beauty stuff this summer which I am almost proud of ;)

alverde body butter in Vanilla & Mandarin
I am hoping it is the same product that I showed you here - please! Let's hope they only switched up the packaging!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub
I am in love <3 I have had this product for a while now and I think I will do a Skin Care Routine soon. I loved the The Body Shop Body Scrub and wanted the same amazing experience for my face. I read reviews online suggesting this product for dry but blemished skin - which is exactly what I have - and when I saw it was only 8 Euros (you can buy a lot more expensive The Body Shop products) I had to try it.

Weleda Skin Food
This is a repurchase - my skin would be a mess without this product. SInce I am about to run out of this I had to make sure I had a backup.

Pantene Pro-V Conditioner for dry hair
Again this is a repurchase. I had a giant bottle of this before (that literally lasted for over a year) and I am still loving it. Somehow my hair just does not like to be straight and this product is the only way I know that gets it to be straight (well almost). I love this stuff.

L'oréal Paris Nude Magique Eau De Teint 120 Ivoire / Pure Ivory
This foundation sounded so amazing and when I swatched it it seemed to be a perfect match - but it is not. It is the lightest shade they sell but it is still too dark for me. :(

Manhattan Glowing Goddess Shimmer Powder Pink Paradise
This is the newest addition to my make up collection. I have been eyeing this product for the last few weeks and had to remind myself constantly that I had set a goal of not buying any more blushes because I already own a ridiculous amount. Then they started selling out everywhere and after wanting it for this long I finally caved in and got it! I have not used it yet but I will just after finishing this blogpost when I get ready for the rest of the day ;)

alverde baked Duo-Bronzer 10 Light Bronze
It already broke! I just tilted it to the side a little - and the whole product fell out! I had to collect the broken pieces from the ground before ven using it once :( Other than that I really like it (besides the smell - why do alverde products have to smell like that?!).

KIKO Fancy Top Coat nail lacquer 657
KIKO nail lacquer386
I don't have a KIKO near where I live so when I visited my parents in July I had to stop by their store! I have been looking for a crazy shimmer & glitter top coat from the drugstore for a while now but never found one I really liked. KIKO is not a drugstore brand - but the prices are drugstore level. I was also looking for the perfect light, creamy blue for my nails and thought I had finally found it - just to come home to find that I own the exact same color from Revlon. Well, fail.

KIKO Skinny Fit Kajal 05
Is that not the prettiest packaging you have ever seen? I do not want to throw it away :( I have only used the pencil once and I like it so far. I just wish it had the the same print as the packaging...

Catrice Limited Edition Le Grand Bleu - Matt Lip Cream C01 Never Leave Coral Reef
This was kind of a stupid purchase. Don't get me wrong - I like the product - I simply own way to many red lip products. Well, good thing it was on sale :P

from left to right:
Catrice Limited Edition Le Grand Bleu - Matt Lip Cream C01 Never Leave Coral Reef
KIKO Skinny Fit Kajal 05

That is all I got! - Puh, that was a long post. I hope you enjoyed and you are having a fantastic summer! Tell me what products I should check out in the drugstore the next time I go shopping there :P

Bye,

Products I've used up - Spring 14

After looking at this picture one could assume that there must be a lot more space in my shower now - but there is not. Of course I had to fill it up right away!

Garnier natural beauty Olive & Citrus Shampoo
I used to love that shampoo but I don't think I will repurchase this anytime soon. After using this I had to wash my hair the next day right again because it already looked awful. I don't know what changed but this does not work for me anymore.

treacle moon her mango thoughts
First of all - amazing packaging! It's just so pretty ;) It did not take as long as I thought it would to use up 500ml of shower gel. I liked the smell but other than that I don't think there was anything special about this product. I got as present from a friend but I will not buy this for myself simply because I like to switch up shower gels and hardly ever buy anything twice.

Balea Shaving Gel Buttermilk Lemon & Rival de Loop Clean & Care Eye Make Up Remover
Two standard products in my bathroom. I love them both and already bought them again.

Garnier Fructies Wonder Oil
In the beginning I loved that hair oil but in the end I have to admit that yes it is nice but in my opinion not worth the money. It isn't that cheap for a drugstore product and I know products I like better. (This was originally my mother's hair oil but she did not lie it either.)

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm Classic
I love that stuff! I use it all the time but it still takes forever to use it up! This time I opted for the tube version of it instead of the one in the pot.

Dove Oil Care Hair Mask
I used it up but I did not like it. It simply did not do enough for my hair.

Swiss OPair 'Nerzöl' Conditioner
That little pack was enough for two applications. I liked it but it was not fantastic. I have a few more of these little packs of conditioner and plan to use them on trips since they only take up such little space.

Catrice Glamour Doll Mascara
I am still loving this mascara! It separates my lashes, makes them look longer and lasts all day without leaving black dots all over my eye area - what more do I want a mascara to to?

That's it! Somehow I used up a lot of products this spring that I did not like that much - which is great because that means more space for good new products!

Bye,

Fashion, Beauty & Random Favorites April 2014

It's time for monthly favorites! This time they are a little more random but I hope you still enjoy <3

I cannot believe that there was a time when I owned no black clothing at all. I have been wearing the jacket so much in the last month and generally just wore a lot of black. Black and white striped t-shirts, black bags, blag shoes - all of it in black.

I like the effect this mascara gives to my lashes. It separates my lashes really well and keeps my lashes looking good throughout the day - especially in combination with the next product.

I have not mastered curling my eyelashes yet but I have been trying hard this month! Of course the color of the limited edition eyelash curler is simply lovely but it actually works pretty well, too :P

I am still at war with my skin but this has been helping a lot! I never found a face scrub that actually worked for my skin. This is a great alternative to scrubbing your face. It helps clear up my skin and does not dry out my skin like most face scrubs do.

I have been all about nude nails lately. I look at other people and love their spring colored nails and totally fall in love with it  - but when I get home I don't reach for the light lavender, pastel pink or baby blue - no, I put on nude polish again. I simply cannot help it!

Cupper Liquorice & Spearmint Infusion
Just take a second an admire these gorgeous packaging. Have you ever seen pretty tea like this? The box looks great from every perspective - even the ingredients list is cute. When I use this up (which will happen sooner than later) I will make sure not throw the box away but actually cut it apart and put it up somewhere in my kitchen. I am a little liquorice crazy - it is my favorite ingredients in tea and what is the best combination with that? - Mint! I am loving it. In addition to that it is a Fair Trade product which makes it even better.

Ed Sheeran - Sing
Ok, so don't drink and smoke kids! I might not support everything said in this song but nevertheless I have been listening to this all the time singing along terribly off-key dancing through the apartment. Ed Sheeran simply has an amazing voice and I am currently trying to convince my friend to go see him in concert in November.

These were my favorites of the month of April 2014. What were your favorites? Any recommendations?

H&M Basics HAUL

I just passed an exam that I was terrified to take and had to celebrate that. And how do I like to celebrate? Yeah, I went out with my girlfriends and had ice cream for lunch but I also went a little shopping crazy.  hardly ever buy things that are not on sale but this time none of the items I got were on sale.

Blue Jeans - 9.95 Euro
I already own a pair of the exact same jeans. I guess I'm kind of picky with my pants. I' don't like the used look, I don't want any patterns on the pockets and I want them to be (and stay) a dark blue color. These are the perfect jeans or me! I have had similar pants to these that were more expensive but these are the ones that last me the longest and the color doesn't fade that quickly plus the button is a nice color, too (not a shiny gold or silver, because I don't like that either).

White Blouse - 19.95 Euro
I have wanted one of those for forever! I love this one, because it is not too sheer, it has the perfect length and it does not have a collar.

Black Sandals- 9.95 Euro
These are super simple, faux leather, flat sandals that are another basic like the blouse that I somehow never bought before. I feel like this is a very basic haul :P

Brown Faux Leather Bag - 14.95 Euro
I am in love with this bag! It is so simple and small and cute. The size is perfect for when I don't really have to take anything but some money and my phone. I only own small bags for going out at night but I had none for everyday use. It just feels a little stupid to carry a big bag that I usually take to uni when all I do is go grocery shopping. I will use this a lot.

How do you celebrate passing an important exam? Where do you buy your basics?

Cookies & Cream Trend Edition by essence - haul & swatches

I have been on the hunt for this limited edition ever since I saw the press release photos but whenever I finally found a store that had put a Cookies & Cream display everything besides some nail polishes was sold out. Yesterday was my lucky day - I eventually found everything I wanted from the collection! It took me forever but I did it P

essence Cookies & Cream TE eyeshadow 01 So hot, donut!
This is the color I wanted the most! I really don't know how to describe this shade besides it actually reminds me of a donut :D I honestly cannot even tell your whether it has warm or cold undertones.

essence Cookies & Cream TE eyeshadow 03 Last night a cookie saved my life!
Applause to essence for those names - I love them. I was hesitant about this buying this eyeshadow. Not because of the quality but because this feels like exactly the kind of shade I buy all the time. The color does not look that special but the finish does. Just looking at the color I would say it is definitely warm but when I take closer look I am not sure yet again.

essence Cookies & Cream TE blush 01 Cakepop, that's top!
Yeah well, there goes my new year's resolution about not buying any more blushes in 2014. But honestly, how could I pass this up? It is so pretty and unique! I adore the color and the finish. It is not shimmery or glittery but has more of an satin finish.
From top to bottom:
essence Cookies & Cream TE blush 01 Cakepop, that's top!
essence Cookies & Cream TE eyeshadow 01 So hot, donut!
essence Cookies & Cream TE eyeshadow 03 Last night a cookie saved my life!
These swatches were done without a base and after just putting my finger in the product ones.

Left: No base.
Right: Urban Deckay Primer Potion
I don't know why but in the picture it looks like the side with primer underneath has lost all its sheen. In reality that is not the case. They are a little less satin but they basically look exactly like they do in the pan.

I have not had these products for very long, so I cannot tell you too much about them. But if you are lucky enough t find them in stores go get them! I like the quality, the shades the finish and the price is great as well. I am really happy I found these! <3

Did you get anything from the Cookies & Cream collection? I thought about getting the other light eyeshadow too (it looked really nice and I was impressed with the swatches) but I could not justify buying another highlight color.

Oh, and by the way:

Happy Easter! <3
