Products I've Used Up // May

This is a pretty colorful 'Products I've Used Up' Post this month - which kind of fits the season does it not? ;)

Balea Dead Sea Salt Peach-Mango Shower Gel for Dry Skin: I liked this shower gel but I will not repurchase it. It did not moisturize my skin as well as I would want it to and while it was still an ok shower gel it just was not special enough for me to want to buy it again.

ISANA young Wild Berries Body Butter: This body butter would be a new favorite of mine if it wasn't for the scent. It is not a bad scent but it is just to sweet and candy-like. Other than that this is a wonderful moisturizer that sunk into my skin very quickly without leaving any stickiness behind. Hopefully this will be available in another scent in the future!

Sun Dance Sunscreen SPF 50: I did not actually use this up, it simply expired. Sunscreen actually expires pretty quickly so you should probably check yours if you did not use up your sunscreen from last year and planned to continue to use it.

Sun Dance Après Creme: This is another leftover product from last year that expired before I could use it up. I have already repurchased this. I have very sensitive skin and I sunburn very easily which is why I use this quite frequently in the summer time. It has a cooling effect when you apply it to your skin and I think it does help sunburns to go away a little quicker.

Garnier Eye-Make--Up Remover 2-in-1: There is another eye-make-up remover by Garnier that I want to try next - but that is the only reason I have not repurchased this product yet. It does a good job taking off my waterproof mascara and eyeliner without irritating my skin.

Rexona Shower Fresh Deodorant: What is there much to say about deodorant? It worked well and I liked the scent but I did not repurchase this exact product simply because it has aluminium in it and I am trying to stay away from that.

wellaflex Volume Hair Spray: I do not use a lot of hairspray in my everyday life - but when I did I was quite happy with this one. That is why I have already repurchased this again.

What products did you use up this May?

Nail of the Day // Night Out

It says on the back of the bottle that you only need one coat of nail polish to get a perfect and opaque finish - that is not true. I needed two coats but I do not mind that. This is the first time I am wearing this nail polish because to me this is the perfect night-out nail polish and tonight I am going out. The dark metal / glitter color is just amazing and I do not own anything else like this in my collection. This is part of Astor's permanent nail polish selection so you can get your hands on the any time!
I applied two coats of Hot Chocolate Season and used p2 Perfect Nail Hardener as a base coat and the essence The Gel Nail Polish Top Coat on top.

What is your go-to night-out nail polish?

Drugstore Haul // May Part II

This is the second part to my May drugstore haul. These are basically all products that I got for a trip I will take this week, others where simply products that I had to repurchase.

Nivea Repair & Care Conditioner: I got this conditioner because I usually like Nivea hair products and this one was on sale. Even though this is a normal size conditioner I will take this with me on my trip because the packaging is rather travel-friendly.

Balea Heat Protection Spray: I am almost out of heat protection spray and I usually use the spray be Schwarzkopf. Since I do not really love that product I wanted to try something new.

Wellaflex Extra Strong Hair Spray: I am not an expert when it comes to hairspray. I just like the wellaflex hairspray I used so far and so I got another miniature version of it.

Balea Shaving Gel Pink Grapefruit for sensitive skin: My favorite shaving gel is this one by Balea so I got it in a travel size to take along with me on a trip.

Balea Shower Gel with Oil Pearls: I had this shower gel before in a different scent and really liked it. Another - slightly more stupid reason - is that the packaging is really summery, fresh and pretty.

alverde Creme-Oil-Body-Lotion in Jasmine and Sesame: I usually prefer body butter to body lotion but right now there are actually no body butters available in the drugstore that I am interested in. Since I like other alverde moisturizers and this is meant for very dry skin I decided to give it a try.

Travel Container Set: This is something I should have bought a long time ago. Travel size shampoos and shower gels are generally so over prized that this will really pay of in the long run.

What are your must have products for your summer vacation?

Drugstore Haul // May Part I

This is the first part of my monthly drugstore haul. I shopped quite a lot of stuff because I ran out of a lot of products I had to repurchase and because I am about to go on a trip and needed a few more things for that.

Maybelline Super Stay Forever Strong Gel Nail Color Rouge Laqué 501 Cherry Sin: I love wearing red nails. This is the perfect red shade from one of my favorite brand of nail polishes ever. I have already worn this and it stayed on my nails for a week without chipping. I love this nail polish!

Astor Perfect Stay Gel Shine Nail Polish 502/302 Crème Brulée: I am pretty sure this nail polish going to be in my monthly favorites. I have worn this color multiple time now and it stays on my nail very well and the color is simply amazing.

Astor Nail Polish Quick & Shine 502 Hot Chocolate Season: I have not worn this color yet but I have been eyeing it for moths now. This to me is the perfect going-out-at-night nail polish and I am very excited to try it out.

ebelin Nail Polish Remover: I am going on a trip this week and I want to take nail polish remover with me. This is not the nail polish remover I usually use but this still works fine. I plan on reusing the packaging for traveling after I use this up.

Nivea Fresh Flower Deodorant: This is another miniature product I got to travel with and carry around in my purse. There is no other reason for why I picked this particular one other than that it was the only miniature deodorant available without aluminium.

Sun Dance Après Creme: I am paler than anybody else I know so I get a sunburn very easily. I buy the Sun Dance Aprés Creme every year and it works very well with my skin.

DontoDent Fluor Fresh Toothpaste: I have never used this before but I am not picky about which toothpaste I use so I guess it will be fine. Again I got a miniature size for traveling.

tetesept A Portion of Love Champagne-Berry & Blueberry Bath Salt: I adore tetesept bath products and this one smells amazing. I am very much looking forward to trying this!

What have you shopped for this moth?

Cherry Sin // Nail of the Day

Maybelline Super Stay Forever Strong Gel Nail Color Rouge Laqué 501 Cherry Sin

I finally found the perfect 'classic' red nail polish. I love wearing red nails. I wear dark red nail polish a lot and I also like wearing bright red nail polish but I was always missing that perfect 'classic' red right in the middle. Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Colors are some of my favorite nail polish lines when it comes to quality but the color selection sadly is not that great. I think I now own every color form the range that I like.

I applied three coats of Cherry Sin and used p2 Perfect Nail Hardener as a base coat and the essence The Gel Nail Polish Top Coat on top.

What are you wearing on your nails today?

Stars Above by Marissa Meyer // bookreview

This is a collection of short stories by Marissa Meyer about characters we all know from the Lunar Chronicles.

There are stories that take place before the events we read about in the previous books and others that take place later. There is a story included where we read a scene we already know (and love) form an other character's point of view. Another one of the short stories is a retelling of the little mermaid where we learn about characters that we never even heard of before.

I absolutely loved the Lunar Chronicles and was so very excited when I found out this book was coming out. You can imagine my expectations where high - probably a little too high. I did like this book but I did not love it as much as I expected to. The stories were all great but I would have preferred to read about what the individual characters did after the last book ended. (A little like the scenes after the credits of a movie... does that make sense?).

These stories were all short stories, so I understand that we have to skip over a few details but I did not like the way how major problems from the last book were simply explained in a few sentences. I would have rather not known how they solved it and for it to simply remain a mystery.

I still enjoyed Stars Above and loved seeing all my favorite characters again. If you loved the Lunar Chronicles I would definitely recommend to get your hands on this book.

What did you think of Stars Above?
